There is never a dull moment at the farm – so this week there’s been loads going on and trust me there is nothing cuter than a baby piglet! Our sows have been busy with their litters between 9-13 piglets.

Come take a peak!

Our alpacas have also had new hair cuts and so are summer ready and looking the part, if only looking slightly naked! They will thank us in the Bank Holiday sun!

If you haven’t visited the farm yet what can you expect… we are a working farm so we have loads of farm animals. We want children (and adults) to have fun whilst also learning about the different animals.

There are different animal activities to get involved with when you visit including bottle feeding the goats, feeding piglets, pony grooming and our guinea pigs love a cuddle too.

There is a large indoor soft play area, an outdoor play area and some go karts. And to top it off we have a great cafe on site with barista coffee and breakfast and lunch made using Purbeck produce. So a great day out for all the family.

We have also been running popular home ed sessions on Tuesday mornings – so if you are interested in booking a place then get in touch on 01929 422917.

The sun’s out and fun is everywhere in Purbeck!  Check out three months of fantastic summer events and festivals going on in Purbeck this Summer.  When we are not working then we aim to be there!

The hardest decision is which ones to go to! Why not come camp with us whilst you explore!

We are delighted and extremely excited to welcome back Simon and Claire to The Salt Pig family and also feel really lucky to have Rose join our team.

Simon is back, heading up our kitchen teams to give you those Salt Pig culinary Purbeck delights, alongside our amazing team of chefs. Watch this space for our new dishes.

Claire is back, those of you may remember Claire down at The Sandy Salt Pig shouting out your name to collect your order – she is back but now joining the legendary Wareham team.

And we were really excited to have Rose join as Farm Manager at Salt Pig The Farm Putlake  alongside running her very own business Dorset Rose Lollies. She has already made some great changes and is leading the team there –  we are super excited about all of her ideas.

From beautiful beaches to harmonious heathland, fabulous forests and breathtaking landscapes. What’s there not to love about living in Purbeck…

Don’t tell everyone but here’s our top recommendations:

Want a fun family day out – then look no further than us and enjoy our soft play and attraction farm!  Salt Pig The Farm Putlake

And whilst you are out and about exploring come and enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch or supper with us at one of our wonderful Salt Pig locations. Or do a mini Salt Pig Tour and visit them all…

Our Community Veg Patch at Salt Pig The Farm Putlake is officially open.

Lots has been going on behind the scenes for the last few months. We had such a brilliant day for our launch event last week – showing the power of community coming together.

So many local families turned up to dig, plant, chat, eat & simply enjoy being outside together. Kids were planting, watering, digging non-stop and running free; exactly the kind of relaxed community atmosphere we had hoped for.

The idea behind the Community Veg Patch is a space for individuals and families from the community to come together to plant veg and tend to the garden as and when they can and then all enjoy the produce. The Salt Pig’s ethos is all about connecting people to food and farming so to be able to start such a great thing and learn from each other about gardening and growing has been amazing. It’s also a great social space!

We currently are up there most Tuesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons and it’s great that people pop up and get stuck in. We have already planted so much – fruit trees, salad plants, potatoes, pumpkins, herbs, strawberries, carrots, sunflowers!

And a huge thanks to everyone who helped in the first few months to get things moving ready for the launch event and on the day itself. We love living in such a fantastic community.

We always get fantastic feedback from our catering services; this review from Rebecca and Marek’s wonderful wedding was just so lovely. It really does summarise our ethos – about what we do, our Purbeck meats and our wonderful events team.  It was our absolute pleasure and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness. Thank you Rebecca and Marek.

We hired the Salt Pig as caterers for our wedding and they were absolutely amazing. They cooked the most delicious food, outsiude on a grill – slow-cooked pork, beautiful whole trout and stuffed peppers – better than we ever could have imagined. The potatoe dauphinoise were the best I’ve ever eaten!

The staff were a joy to have around, kind and super helpful.

Beck was brilliant in the build-up, answering all our (many) questions and adaptable to requests and allergies. Their use of local ingredients was brilliant and really important to us.

In short, all our guests were raving about the food! Plus, unlike many companies we encountered during the wedding planning, we felt that The Salt pig were incredibly reasonably priced and, above all, cared about us having a great time.

We cannot recommend them enough, they made our day!

Having an event ….

If you are getting married, having a party or need catering for a corporate event – then please get in touch at hello@thesaltpig.co.uk to find out what we can do to make your event extra special.

It always gets exciting when we can see camping season upon us… our camping season launches on Saturday 23rd May. So kick start half term week – with loads going on including Swanage Pirate Festival & Purbeck Arts Week.

Escapism at its best – whether you live ½ a mile down the road (it has been known) or 2000 miles away – camping is the best tonic! From our campsite on our working farm you can go off-road onto Priest Way – so whether you want to hike, climb, bike, bird watch visit the beach or just be out in nature enjoying the sunsets – come camp with us.

Hot showers, on-site cafe, small farm shop, bus stop across the road and a pub 250 metres away and the Square and Compass a 5 minutes drive away we have everything you need and more!

We are open half term, weekends and then for the whole of the school Summer holidays. Come chill out around the BBQ and enjoy the Purbeck sunset!

Love, love, love! Spring is finally upon us, the relentless rain seems to be easing and the daffodils are coming out.

We love spring at the farm – come and bottle feed our kid goats and lambs – its cuteness overload! And come see the piglets – with their stripes, spots and crazy patterns – best described as tiny bundles of endearing chaos!

‘You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy coffee, and that’s pretty close.’

We get endless compliments on how good our coffee is! And you can now get our coffee in retail bags to enjoy at home too! The question is what latte art would you like to create?

And the million dollar question is who makes the best Salt Pig coffee …… it’s a hard one but my money would have to be on…… !

What better way to while away a cosy Sunday!

We have just brought our amazing roasts to The Pebble Pig at Chesil, with Jon cooking our own Purbeck joints to perfection.

Start the day with breakfast or relax with a glass of wine and roast whilst overlooking the Fleet Lagoon. Then follow up with a cake & coffee before taking a stroll along Chesil Beach. Perfection!

Sunday Lunch challenge – visit a different one of our sites each week for a month for a Sunday roast ….. The Salt Pig, Wareham; The Salt Pig Too, Swanage; & Salt Pig The Farm Putlake, Langton Matravers.
