Salt Pig Farm (Putlake) – Breakfast Menu / Evening Menu

A real working farm

The farm has a strong commitment to animal welfare, sustainability and responsible land management. Visitors are encouraged to understand:

  • Where their food comes from?
  • How farm animals are cared for?
  • How the countryside is managed?

This ethos runs through everything at Salt Pig The Farm Putlake— from daily farm life to the food served in the café.

The café and farm shop features a cosy wood burner to keep you warm on cold winter mornings. With barista-made coffee, in-house baked cakes, a tempting breakfast menu, a rotating selection of hot plate specials, made-to-order burgers plus a children’s menu and a traditional Sunday roast, there is truly something for everyone.

Get back to basics in the beautiful Purbeck countryside with seasonal camping available from mid-May to early September. Guests can enjoy shower and toilet facilities and access to the farm shop.

The farm offers a peaceful countryside setting close on the Jurassic Coast, perfectly placed for exploring the Purbeck Hills, Dancing Ledge, Durlston, Swanage, Winspit, Kimmeridge, Studland and beyond.

The Farm welcomes nurseries and school groups, tailoring visits to meet National Curriculum objectives while catering for a wide range of needs. We also run Home Education sessions open to mixed ages, as well as “Be a Farmer” experiences for both children and adults who want a more hands-on introduction to farm life.

Salt Pig The Farm Putlake is also a popular venue for children’s birthday parties, offering a stress-free way to celebrate surrounded by animals, play, and fresh air. Party packages include farm entrance, access to indoor soft play, a hot food buffet with squash and ice cream, free entry for two adults per party child, and the chance to follow the farm’s daily activity timetable.

Hands-on animal experiences…

Visitors can enjoy bottle-feeding lambs or goats, grooming and brushing the ponies, meeting and handling guinea pigs, saying hello to alpacas, donkeys, cows, pigs and chickens.

Flavours, stories & traditions

From the landscapes of Kimmeridge, Corfe Castle, and Studland Bay to your table, The Salt Pig tells the story of Purbeck through food.
