The Salt Pig currently consists of 8 different locations, all offering the best local produce in Purbeck. You can find us in Wareham – The Salt Pig; Swanage – The Salt Pig Too; Tyneham – The Forgotten Salt Pig; Holme for Gardens – The Salt Pig at Holme; Studland Middle Beach – The Sandy Salt Pig; Chesil Beach – The Pebble Pig and our latest venture Putlake Adventure Farm!

Our ethos is providing quality food for people from their local surroundings at an affordable price. 

Our first store in Wareham was established in 2010 by James Warren and we opened our second premises, The Salt Pig Too, in Swanage in 2018. Following the success of these locations, we have expanded vastly over the last few years and continue to!

All our premises offer The Salt Pig’s finest local produce and service with a smile! 

Our Wareham, Swanage and Middle Beach locations offer breakfast and lunch and Swanage offers dinner also! Click on our locations tab to see what we offer in each of our stores.

CEO James Warren!

James has spent his entire working life in the Purbecks, working at Steeple Leaze Farm for 14 years prior to establishing The Salt Pig. He now keeps over 160 Mangalitsa & Berkshire pigs. He is an accomplished cook, with a particular expertise and passion for barbecuing!

James and The Salt Pig featured on the BBC Countryfile Winter Special that was broadcast on 04/02/18. Matt Baker and his team filmed our Mangalitsa & Berkshire pigs on the RSPB Nature Reserve at Arne and they interviewed James and Nick Ford who supplies our Kimmeridge Bay crab and lobster.

The program illustrates how we are championing local producers and how farmers, shepherds, fisherman, and food producers still manage business as usual even during the harshest winter months.

Mangalitsa’s & Berkshire Pigs

We keep over 160 of our own rare breed Mangalitsa’s & Berkshire pigs on local heathland and woodland, including the RSPB Nature Reserve at Arne (4 miles from The Salt Pig).
